Missouri District 37
Above, Missouri District 37 stretches east from the state line, starting at West Burning Tree Drive, meandering east and north to Wornall Road, then east to the west side of Lake Winnebago, then turning south and then back west, catching the north edge of Raymore and skirting along the east side of Belton, north along Hwy. 49 and stairstepping east back to the state line.

Below, the Kansas City metro area state districts, subject to change based on the Census results and if everyone votes No on 3 Nov. 3. These districts were drawn by legislators for their benefit.

In 2018 League members and others concerned about fair representation worked to get enough signatures to put Amendment 1 on the ballot. Amendment 1, also called Clean Missouri, passed with overwhelming support - 62 percent of the voters.

This year the legislators have brought back gerrymandering and are trying to make it part of the Missouri constitution and overturn the will of the voters.

Amendment 3, known as Dirty Missouri, would allow legislators to draw partisan and racial gerrymandered districts - not unlike the districts we have now. In addition, the addition of "one person one vote" to the Missouri Constitution leaves out children under 18 when the districts boundaries are drawn, shorting us of proper representation in Jefferson City.

Vote No on Amendment 3.

Judges recently ruled that we now have until Oct. 31 to complete the Census.

Although census folks say that 99 percent of households have been counted, in some areas of Kansas City, it's around 65 percent. With every man, woman and child worth about $1700 in social and safety net funding, it's critical we get everyone counted. Our community needs all the resources we can muster.
