And our partner organizations, working with the Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Committee, are set to canvas for Amendment 3.
There are so many ways to get involved. Not a member, join here!

Bottom line, there is so much to do, but so little time.

GOTV Volunteer Opportunities Abound
GOTV needs YOU! Please help distribute flyers, hand-outs, and Voter Guides to businesses on Troost Avenue. These are locations that have been shown by the Jackson County Election Board to have low turnout. So volunteer to help this under served community here!
GOTV is all about getting out the vote and delivering information to these areas will have a greater impact than anywhere else. Please dear GOTV members, AND any other league members who are interested in empowering voters and saving democracy, sign up for the work days on October 9th (TOMORROW) here!
If we all sign up, we can get this done in one day! AND, this is really fun. We work in pairs and will divide the street up into small doable blocks. If you decide to work Troost Avenue, you may even see our ads on the Max buses! So, sign up to help here!
Also, we are delivering this information to Senior Centers around the city. This effort has already begun and we need to finish our deliveries by Wednesday, October 9th.
Please help with this effort so that seniors' voices can be heard. They have a short window of opportunity to make sure they have the correct ID in order to vote. There are many, many senior living centers and community centers all over the city and I am sure there are some near where you live. So, sign up to help here!
To volunteer for deliveries to senior centers near you, call 816-853-4460, or email here!

Let's Help our Partners and their Friends
34 DAY COUNTDOWN ALERT! We have 34 days to take abortion action to ensure a historic YES on 3 vote, AND elect the pro-reproductive freedom candidates who will pave the path to the bright future Missouri deserves: liberated access to abortion, birth control, equitable birthing conditions, miscarriage care and beyond!
Time and again, we’ve proven that having conversations with our neighbors is the best way to reach each other and mobilize voters to the polls this November.
Our partner organizations and their friends have canvassing shifts EVERY WEEK until November 5, so there are plenty of opportunities to make sure your region votes #YesOn3!

| | Electronic Election Security Lecture
From voter registration to tallying ballots to reporting results, technology—computers and software—plays a central role in almost every aspect of U.S. elections. Information technology has become essential for managing the U.S.'s complex elections, and, when all goes well, provides great benefits in efficiency, accuracy, and usability.
Visit UMKC’s beautiful Linda Hall Library for a lecture on how voting systems are protected, how they help insure the accuracy of our elections, and how they reduce the need for risky human counting of ballots.
The event is free, but registration is required here!

| Adopt-A-Poll
Let's Get In on the Action
We all know what an important election year this is for our city, state and country. Our form of government and the quality of our democracy are on the line. The League, at every level, is fully engaged in Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy. Not only does that place a demand on our members’ time and talents, but it also requires more financial support to reach voters, increase turnout, produce materials, and buy advertising.
The Adopt-A-Poll program is a proven way to generate much-needed funds for LWVKC and provide the poll workers the Kansas City Election Board depends on to deliver the well-managed elections they are known for.
Plan now to continue as a veteran poll worker or become a new recruit. You can find all the necessary information here!
Make a plan to turn in your application paperwork by October 1st.
This Alert comes with a serious but achievable GOAL.
The Kansas City Election Board will pay the League directly if we have at least 10 participants. We’ve made that hurdle in the past.
I’m asking our members to double that so that we have 20 poll workers at the November 5th General Election. That would raise about $11,000!
We can do this! I’ll be there again like the last two presidential elections, and every election in between. And I’m reaching out a little early so you can find a way to join this valuable public service that is so much a part of the League’s brand.

| A Call to Action
Be the Hero
The debates are over, and we are finally in the 30 day window when most people actually decide who and what to vote for. So it’s time for all of us to reach out into the community to provide quality information about how, when, and where to vote. We also need to educate ourselves on the many ballot issues that will appear on the November ballot, from reproductive and medical privacy rights, to sports gambling, to ranked-choice voting.

Final paragraph
So my call-to-action is to have your phone ready with the Ballot Measures website already pulled up. This will let you immediately step in to correct any disinformation, or misinformation being passed among your friends and family. Be kind, but firm in making sure everyone understands the actual issues they will be voting on in November. The website can be found here!
Be the hero who stands up for the truth that will save our democracy.
