The League of Women Voters of Kansas City, Jackson, Clay Platte Counties (LWVKCJCP) is an active, nonpartisan organization. Hallmarks of the organization include registering and educating voters, informative, timely meetings and actively working on issues. We neither support nor oppose candidates or political parties, but we do work on legislation and policies of concern to members and the public.

H.R. 1 – For the People Act 
League priority for passage

This bill provides for automatic voter registration, small donor public financing, redistricting reform and a commitment to restore the Voting Rights Act.

Passage of H.R. 1 would be the most significant reform in a half century and the most significant change to pass either Chamber. Last year the bill stalled in the Senate.

Federal legislators include Sen. Blunt, Sen. Hawley and Rep. Graves. Rep. Cleaver is a bill sponsor. Links to the legislators below.

2021 Elections

* April 6 - 
General, municipal, and school district elections.  Register to vote by March 10. 

* August 3  - Primary election.  Register to vote by July 7.

* November 2 - General Election.  Register to vote by October 6. 

If you are a United States citizen, 17 1/2 years of age, and will be 18 by the next election, you can register to vote.  Visit the Secretary of State's website and register NOW.
