MONTHLY MEETING: Immigration Pathways and the Current Immigration Climate

About this event

Joan Kelly, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Jewish Vocational Services, will talk about the different immigration pathways and current climate regarding immigration.

Joan Kelly previously oversaw JVS's refugee resettlement, employment, and support services. She has more than a decade of experience working with refugees, immigrants, and displaced populations domestically and abroad, including long-term work in Syria, Haiti and Tanzania. Having worked in refugee camps overseas, Joan is passionate about community building. She worked with the International Rescue Committee as a US Resettlement Program Officer, setting policy and guidance to ensure successful refugee integration across more than 30 US cities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Joan worked with State governments to design testing and vaccine programs to reach the most vulnerable populations, including refugee and immigrant groups. She is originally from Toronto, Canada, but is happy to call Kansas City, Missouri home with her husband and two sons.
