Advocacy

Develops and implements strategic plans to lead League advocacy for or against policies, regulations, legislation, and ballot issues when there is a League position that supports the issue or speaks to the cause. Develops League positions that support the League's mission and priorities. Helps facilitate coordination with outside organizations and LWVMO and LWVUS advocacy efforts.

Coordinates local League actions to support LWVMO and LWVUS advocacy for or against policies, regulations, legislation, and ballot issues when there is a League position that supports the issue or speaks to the cause. Develops functioning partnerships with other Leagues and outside organizations in order to coordinate advocacy efforts.

Attends local government/agency meetings in the League's 3 county service area and informs League membership of issues. Alerts League leadership of need for further action. Coordinates poll monitor activity/training for elections with MOVPC.

This committee is conducting the 2022-2024 Election Administration Study, developing positions that will allow LWVKC to more effectively take action on election administration related legislation. While a number of positions related to election security were approved in May 2023, work continues on other areas of election administration.

Communications/PR/Marketing

Communicates with members and the public using a variety of media to share League news, alerts, and initiatives.

Publicizes news announcements to broadcast, print, and advertising media, including billboards and other signage. Coordinates member interviews with the press. CHAIRPERSON NEEDED, please contact Anne Calvert at president@lwvkc.org to volunteer!

Our newsletter comes out when needed to all our membership with information and calls to action

Compose, design, and schedule posts of relevant League news and topics on social media channels. Livestream League events to Facebook and post videos to YouTube.

Membership

22 Members
Organizes League monthly and special meetings for the membership and others. Selects topics and speakers and coordinates meeting logistics including virtual and in person locations.

Discusses books chosen by the members concerning voting, women's rights and any other topics of current interest.

Recruit new members. Promote member engagement in League activities to increase member retention. Develop and hold training sessions for our new members.

Technology

Provide technology oversight for the League. Evaluate and implement technology solutions used to support league activities. Chairperson: Dave Mountjoy email: technology@lwvkc.org

Implement technology to support various league activities and enable communications. Technologies currently in use include ClubExpress, G Suite, Google Ads, Zoom, etc. Maintain and update the League's website, which includes our membership database, events, volunteer opportunities. Collect and post photos of league events.
