Voter ID Laws & Access in Missouri | LWVKC November Meeting

Join us to learn about the implications of voter ID laws for Missouri residents, and challenges to identification access voters might experience. We'll also discuss the impact of recently changed Missouri voter ID laws on the general elections in November. We'll be joined by speakers Denise Lieberman of the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition and Selene Gomez from VoteRiders.

Selene Gomez is the National Outreach Director of VoteRiders and also serves as their Texas Voter ID Coalition Coordinator. Selene has worked with Mi Familia Vota Education Fund to increase Latinx voter turnout through voter registration and education, citizenship programs, and get-out-the-vote campaigns. She worked in the U.S. House of Representatives in one of the most competitive districts in the nation. Her prior 10-year experience in nonprofits include working with The League of Women Voters as a member, Youth Transitioning into Adulthood as a board member, San Antonio Immigrant Youth Movement as the Director of External Affairs, Texas DREAM Alliance as the coordinator, Council for Minority Student Affairs as founder and president, United We Dream as a field organizer, and Workers Defense Project as a fellow.

Denise Lieberman is a nationally recognized voting rights lawyer for the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition, based in St. Louis. She has been on the front lines of voting rights debates in Missouri and around the country for the last 20 years. The Coalition is representing the League in a lawsuit challenging the voter ID laws in Missouri. She'll educate us about Missouri voter ID laws, how they've evolved, and since it will be shortly after the election, share fresh observations on how the changes in voter ID law went during the election and any new developments in the lawsuit.
