WHAT: On Fri. Jan. 22, 2021 at 12pm CT, Missouri voter advocates will hold a virtual media briefing with Missouri Cong. Emanuel Cleaver II and Cong. The briefing is among dozens of events nationwide urging Congress to pass H.R. 1, the For the People Actand H.R. 4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Our democracy has been under attack by concerted efforts to suppress and undermine American voices, particularly those of voters of color whose leadership and organizing changed the electoral landscape. We have witnessed the fragility of our democracy, and the new administration and Congress must act now . The For the People Act is a sweeping democracy reform package to expand and protect voting rights, end partisan gerrymandering, get dark money out of politics, and restore transparency and accountability in our government. This briefing will make the case for why Missouri voters need democracy reform now.

Missouri advocates thank Cong. Emanuel Cleaver and Cong. Cori Bush, who have signed on as co sponsors of For the People Act. The Missouri Voter Protection Coalition sent this letter calling on on Missouri’s congressional delegation to move swiftly to pass these needed voting measures. Join Cong. Cleaver, Cong.
